Steve Wozniak Inspires Audience at GiG Conference

At the 5-year company anniversary event GiGsters Connect, organized by Gaming Innovation Group (GiG), legendary Silicon Valley tech wizard Steve Wozniak was welcomed by a cheering crowd while whizzing into the InterContinental Arena in Malta on a Segway

The audience included 650 GiG employees (“GiGsters”) from Malta, Norway, Spain and Denmark as well as over 500 external guests who were given a free ticket by GiG: UoM, MCAST and Middlesex University students and professors, members of the Maltese tech community and high profile guessts.

The gadget guru captivated the audience with an inspiring and educational fireside chat with GiG CEO, Robin Reed, and also took questions from the audience.SiGMA iGaming Steve Wozniak Inspires Audience at GiG Conference

In an industry where recruitment of top tech talent may be difficult, GiG is truly leading the way by opening up their awesomeness and sharing it with all of us. What an inspiring and engaging event for students, employees and the local community! More of this please!”, commented Kelly Kehn, Co-founder of All-in Diversity: an industry-driven initiative to benchmark diversity, equality and inclusion in iGaming.

Sharing a wealth of anecdotes ‘Woz’ had the audience glued to his every word: while working at the video game company Atari, he had dreamt of a “computer in color”. After “four days and nights without sleep”, the image of a colored computer screen had popped into his head. It was “just a digital number” but that was all it took to change the industry.

Employees and students expressed gratefulness to GiG for this great opportunity.

“I am really grateful to GiG for this wonderful opportunity of a lifetime. I got to meet one of my role models, talk to him and have him sign my books and my shirt. Today was a good day.”, said GiG Solutions Architect and former MCAST student Chris Demicoli.  Listening to other conversations after the event confirmed that he seemed to speak for almost every guest that evening.

The 2-day GiGsters Connect event meanwhile has been featuring many more in-depth knowledge session, hackathons, parties and learning opportunities lined up for all 650 GiG employees in attendance.

Co-founder of Apple to visit Malta for GiG’s 5 Year Anniversary Event

Steve Wozniak, the Co-founder of Apple, will be visiting Malta for GiG’s 5 year anniversary event

Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) is one of of Malta’s leading iGaming employers. GiG will be hosting Steve Wozniak upon his visit to Malta. He is famously known as the Silicon Valley tech wizard ‘Woz’ Wozniak, coming to Malta for an event celebrating GiG’s five year anniversary.

The annual employee conference held by GiG, called ‘GiGsters Connect’, is taking place on the 6th and 7th March, with all 650 GiG employees (as well as those travelling from abroad to join their Maltese colleagues).

On top of meetings, parties, hackathons and opportunities to learn, there will also be a “fireside chat” and a chance to ask ‘Woz’ questions. Those who attend will learn about Apple’s startup and the way Woz transformed the system by venturing into the unknown.

Over 400 university and MCAST tech students – as well as developers, startups, entrepreneurs, some members of the Maltese business community, will be invited to the session with Woz.

GiG’s CEO Robin Reed: “There are many people in Malta, including at GiG, who work in highly specialised technology roles. We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate five successful years of our company than by giving our employees and 400 of the Maltese tech community the opportunity to be inspired by Woz, a pioneer of technology.”

The engineering prodigy Steve Wozniak had worked side by side with the late Steve Jobs. He individually built the first Apple computer prototype, revolutionising the computer world.

GiG only recently announced their all time high quarterly revenues, reaching a whopping EUR 39.9 million in Q4 of 2017. They also plan to penetrate into the US market, after forming a new partnership with Hard Rock International to deliver their first Casino.

BetOnSoft rebrands to Saucify

Casino games provider BetOnSoft has rebranded to Saucify. The new brand name is meant to be evocative of adding sauce to a dish to make it more exciting and flavoursome, exactly what Saucify has been doing for the past eight years in the casino games market.

The name was chosen because it represents the company’s ethos of dynamism, originality and speed to market, and is a big step away from the many bland brands within the gaming industry.

Saucify’s marketing spokesman said the improved branding and messaging is part of a wider strategic marketing plan:  “The name is a perfect fit for what we have done for the last eight years and what we intend to continue doing in the future – spicing up the gaming the market with some of the best casino content available on desktop and on mobile.

“In truth, BetOnSoft wasn’t the most dynamic of names and didn’t reflect our unique and innovative offering. Our branding, marketing and messaging will all benefit as a result of our new corporate identity.”

The company itself – whose products and platform have been described as ‘visionary’ by Fusion-io, the company that has Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak as its Chief Scientist – won’t change in any way apart from the new brand identity.
