SiGMA Appoints New COO

Oliver de Bono is recruited as the new Chief Operating Officer to share his extensive experience with the fast growing company

SiGMA is excited to announce the appointment of Oliver de Bono as the new Chief Operating Officer.  Oliver brings with him more than ten years of experience. The appointment was effective on December 1st.

Oliver de Bono

Founder and CEO of SiGMA, Eman Pulis welcomes Oliver on board,

“First things first. I couldn’t thank Jarek enough for being side by side and making sure SiGMA grew through its startup phase into a fully fletched company that it is today. I personally wish this gentleman the very best in his next pursuits.

Moving forward, Oliver’s experience in gaming, careers branding and HR as well as his managerial skills fit the direction the company is embarking upon, starting 2018.  SiGMA is aspiring to become a brand synonymous with Gaming in Malta all year round, not just during the summit itself in Autumn.

Next year, SiGMA will not only strengthen its core affiliate-operator-vendor part as well as its startup-investor part, but will also embark on offering an all year round jobs board where companies and employees can interact. To this extent a new portal will be unveiled on February 1st.”

Jarek Gorny

Oliver de Bono replaces Jarek Gorny who has been with SiGMA since he had started his career in 2015, seeing the company growing at an astonishing pace.

Jarek Gorny says, “I joined SiGMA in 2015, right after graduating. It was an amazing journey and experience working on expanding the show from 1,500 to 8,000 attendees, doubling the number of exhibitors every year. Whilst I’m excited for my new challenges, I’m wishing Oliver and the whole team even bigger success with future SiGMAs.”

Commenting on his new position, Oliver de Bono went on to elaborate, “I feel excited and intrigued about seeing where this brand can go! I started in iGaming in 2006 within iGaming Recruitment, spent many years with start ups assisting in their growth. I’ve worked with so many companies across the industry and tried to take what works with me.”

Malta-based AXL Affiliates buys Astute Media for €25 Million

AXL Affiliates Ltd, a global independent iGaming Company based in Malta, announced that it has acquired ASTUTE MEDIA LTD as well as all the firm’s subsidiary companies  – twelve of them. ASTUTE MEDIA is a global advertising platform that delivers over 900M+ ad impressions per day, through its twelve subsidiaries. The purchase will help AXL Affiliates reach new markets and territories and will strengthen its leading position in the sportsbetting affiliate sector.

With this amazing acquisition, by far our biggest one so far, we are reaching new heights in our quest for becoming the leading iGaming Affiliate Company in the world. AXL Affiliates is a fast-growing company and I am confident that this acquisition will double the leads that we are delivering to our iGaming partners. says Alex Munteanu, Founder and President of AXL Affiliates.

SiGMA met with AXL Media two years ago and spoke vividly about the benefits of relocating business to Malta. The company has since established a solid presence in Malta, generating quality traffic to several opeartors, but also supporting the local sporting scene with sponsorship. The latest to benefit from this cause is Maltese boxer Billy Corito.

The acquisition of ASTUTE MEDIA LTD for the record-breaking amount of £22 million represents a climax for AXL Affiliates who now has all the resources in-house for becoming the biggest sportsbetting affiliate company worldwide. The accession of AXL Affiliates, following this acquisition, will create new opportunities for further expansion as well as for a possible IPO.

As a result of this acquisition, in the coming weeks, AXL Affiliates will send 10x more traffic to its partners. Our expectations are that by mid-2018 the AXL group will be able to organically send more than 25,000 leads per month.says Alex Munteanu, Founder and President of AXL Affiliates.

5th SiGMA17 Tour to take place on September 6th at MFCC, Ta’ Qali

On September 6th between 9:30hrs and 10:30hrs, SiGMA is organising the fifth tour at the Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre in Ta’ Qali – a new venue for the November show.

All the exhibitors and potential sponsors have a chance to experience and take a look at the venue and facilities. It will also be possible to discuss stand construction and other logistical matters with local suppliers of stands, printing and furniture.

Interested participants are welcome to join this tour by RSVP at sophie@sigma.com.mt.

MFCC

Arguably the toughest of decisions we had to endure to date – stay where we are but be unable to grow the show with new exhibitors or move elsewhere? Hardly anyone wanted to release their booking for 2017, which meant we literally couldn’t sell a single stand space to a new exhibitor. Delegates want to meet existing but also new exhibitors. For us it was important to keep the show cosy and fun but at the same time enable it to grow, with new exhibitors.

2016 was already a bit of a squeeze so we decided to go for a bigger venue and create what we’re branding as the iGAMING VILLAGE – with six themed bars, three restaurants and two lounge areas all within the expo. Enjoy a drink, a lunch, a cigar at no cost this year at SiGMA! This, coupled with free shuttle bus service, should make MFCC a welcoming home this year!

With 1,000 free flights for affiliates and C level executives, many more startups and investors for our startup pitch and more talented attendees for our Careers Convention, we’re expecting 6,000 delegates this year. Our delegate numbers have shown significant growth since our first show in 2014. Their demographics can be found here.

Affiliate Grand Slam – Mission Accomplished, Wheel Reinvented!

The demand was there for all to see, but nobody seemed to address it until the organisers behind SiGMA came up with the magic formula: limit the conference to five affiliate managers and open the flood gates (with strict due diligence) for affiliates.

Affiliate Grand Slam represents the first conference in the history of affiliation where affiliates could apply for an all-inclusive VIP treat, including flights, five-star, two-night stay at the Hilton, excursions, lunches, dinners, and parties thrown in the mix.

Only five operators were allowed to host the Grand Slam, plus another five non-operators were allowed to sponsor it.

The event started off with 250 affiliates flying in to Tallinn from all corners of the world on Thursday 27th April. The SiGMA crew greeted each affiliate at the brand new, five star Hilton Park.

That same evening, each operator sat down privately with give-or-take fifty affiliates for a dinner within the hotel itself. Betting Gods, Olybet, PlayOJO, Quasar and Videoslots lavished with affiliates and nurtured new working relationships in a friendly environment. Good wine in abundance.

The night was far from over. After dinner, all guests headed down to Olympic Casino within the Hilton itself for welcome champagne, dark chocolate, cigars and a free-roll, networking poker tournament.

The organisers were hoping the night would end there and that affiliates won’t head out in the wilderness of Old Town, but, as anticipated, half their hopes went up in flames.

Still, next morning, breakfast was brimming with activity and all affiliates, bar a few casualties, seemed eager for the conference to start. Each operator gave a small presentation, followed by a series of quality workshops. Mini stalls, an exquisite buffet lunch table, coffee and Baltic treats cluttered the meet-market outside the conference hall, where handshakes and business cards were being exchanged.

Following a few hours at the Hilton spa, it was time for the big traditional dinner! Everyone headed to Olde Hansa, walking through the narrow, cobble streets of charming Old Town, for a feast back in time. Traditional cuisine made its way on all tables for everyone to share while more business cards exchanged hands.

Shortly after dinner, the closing night awaited at the Olympic Casino for a VIP, strictly by invite nighter-bender. Few guests joined the party, but the organisers would not elaborate. We can only guess how the night unfolded with 250 affiliates in this charming Baltic city.

The success of Affiliate Grand Slam was such that the industry won’t wait another year for the organisers to launch the second edition. A new city to uncover, new hosts, new affiliates. This is Affiliate Grand Slam. The wheel has been reinvented.

Full portfolio of images and video will be uploaded on our AGS and SiGMA sites – stay tuned! If you’re interested in hosting or sponsoring the next AGS get in touch with organisers on +356 99263626, by email at info@sigma.com.mt or by skype at eman.pulis.
