888poker Signs the World’s Greatest Online Tournament Player

888poker yesterday announced that Chris Moorman, the best player in the history of online poker tournaments, has been newly signed as an ambassador for the brand.

With more than $13 million in winnings as well as a record breaking 25 triple crowns, it’s no surprise that he would be in demand to represent a prominent internet site such as 888poker.

Moorman, now easily found online under his new screen-name “888moorman”, spoke about the opportunity to join the site, saying: “My manager started speaking with an 888 representative and when she proposed the idea to me I was incredibly excited. 888 is doing big things and really is working hard to expand their reach in poker. Things like sponsoring the WSOP and the Super High Roller Bowl have shown they are committed to their growth of the brand and I can’t wait to see what they have coming up in the future.”

Back in February, as a member of the Global Poker League’s London Royals, Moorman topped a field of 777 entries to win the 888 Sunday Challenge for $18,840. Not only was this the score that put him above the celebrated $13 million mark in online tournament winnings, but it also marked his second largest score on the site; he had won the same event on 20th December 2015 for $19,720.

His biggest online cash ever was in 2011 when he finished third in the Full Tilt Poker Special $1,000 Monday event with $235,592; marking one of his four six-figure online scores.

The signing comes exactly one year after 888poker brought Dominik Nitsche on. Moorman is excited to join him, as well as the likes of Kara Scott, Sofia Lövgren, and former Brazilian World Cup star Denilson, as members of Team 888poker.

“They are all great players and ambassadors of the game,” Moorman said. “Also they all gave such a warm welcome to the team and I am excited to represent the site alongside them. Dominik is one of the best players in the world; to have won 3 bracelets at his age is an incredible achievement. I’ve known Kara for a long time and [she] does an incredible job presenting and is a great poker player as well.”

Moorman also revealed that he will start streaming some 888poker final tables on Twitch, which his many fans will surely follow.

888Poker will be showcasing at SiGMA16; Malta’s biggest upcoming gaming event of the year. If you would like to come and see 888Poker along with other exhibitors at this iGaming summit in November, click here to register.

888Poker Signs Partnership with Super High Roller Bowl & Poker Central

888Poker, the second largest online poker room in the world, has signed an agreement to partner with the Super High Roller Bowl and Poker Central throughout the four-day event that kicked off yesterday 29th May at Aria Casino & Resort, Las Vegas.

The second edition of the Super High Roller Bowl will see 49 players competing for one of the richest prize pools in the poker calendar. 888Poker will have their branding displayed all over the actual event, as well as throughout the in-show television broadcasts.

This is the second large strategic alliance in the States that 888Poker has entered into. 888Poker will also be the primary sponsor of the 47th Annual World Series of Poker (WSOP) that kicks off tomorrow 31st May, which WSOP officials have declared to have “the most ambitious and diverse schedule in the 47-year history.”

The $300,000 buy-in Super High Roller Bowl will make someone about $5million richer, and 888Poker will be around to witness all the flops, turns and rivers.

All poker fans have the opportunity to get involved in the Super High Roller Bowl’s Million Dollar Freeroll by simply heading over to the Poker Central website. For the chance to become a millionaire, players must correctly predict the Top 7 finishing positions. If nobody predicts all 7 positions correctly, Poker Central will give $10,000 to the person with the closest guess.

888Poker to Host Fifth Iteration of Super XL Series in May

888Poker, which has become the third online poker network to host an elite poker series, will be hosting the fifth iteration of their Super XL Series in May. The Series, consisting of 40 tournaments, is set to take place on May 14th – 22nd, and will offer $3m in guaranteed prize money, and a $1m guaranteed Main Event.

The format of the festival will consist of Mini and Main themed events for low and high rollers, as well as a Turbo theme for players who prefer to avoid any hassle getting in and out.

The Main Event, which will be the star attraction with a $1,050 buy-in, will run on Sunday May 22nd. This will mark the third time in a row that the tournament will feature a $1m guarantee, so it is sure to draw some of the biggest names in the game including 888 ambassadors Jackie Glazier, Nico Villa-Lobos, Bruno “Foster” Politano, Akira Ohyama, Sofia Lövgren, Bruno Kawauti and Kara Scott. 888Poker strikes a deal with King’s Casino and the Swedish Poker Federation

Over the last few days, 888Poker has agreed to several exciting new deals including sponsorship of the King’s Casino Deutsche Poker Tour (DPT) and German Championships of Poker events (GCOP), and with the Swedish Poker Federation to help with the online Swedish Poker Championships.

Eight GCOP and DPT events will take place at the King’s Casino, Rozvadov, Czech Republic in 2016. The DPT is a €159 buy-in with a €100,000 guarantee, and the GSOP is a €888 buy-in with a €200,000 guarantee. 888Poker have started running satellites for as low as one cent. Packages include buy-in and accommodation for the duration of the event. In addition to the backing of these developments, 888Poker will also host a series of 888Live Local events at the King’s Casino this year.

The deal comes on the back of increased alliances between online poker rooms and their brick and mortar counterparts. 888Poker recently announced plans to rebrand the Aspers Poker Room in their livery and host some 888Live Local events in the Stratford card room. Partypoker have a presence in Dusk till Dawn (DTD), and PokerStars have some them in strategic locations all over the world.

The King’s Casino is a popular venue among the poker community. They have a relationship with the nonprofit Raising for Effective Giving (REG) and sponsor some high stakes grinders affiliated with the effective altruists. In 2014, the casino’s owner Leon Tsoukernik won the 2015 Industry Person of the Year award at the Global Poker Index (GPI) European Poker Awards (EPA).

The second deal will see 888Poker become a partner to the online Swedish Poker Championships 2016/17, after striking a two year agreement with PokerEvent and the Swedish Poker Federation.

The series will kick off on May 24th, and 888Poker will feature two tables per day leading up to the Main Event on May 29th. The winner of the online series wins a seat in the Poker-SM Live event in Malta.

Commenting on the deal, 888Poker Ambassador Sofia Lovgren said:

“As a Swede and ambassador for 888poker I think it’s great that we expand even more in my home country.”

888poker to change rewards programme

One of the world’s leading online poker rooms, 888poker, has today announced that it shall be changing its loyalty programme from a traditional rakeback model to a revamped system based on tokens, challenges and level progression.

The new service, called 888poker Club, is set to launch on 28th March. The new programme will feature daily tournaments that give players the chance to win $100,000 every month. Players will also receive scratch cards for every five levels they climb.

Level progress is based on achieving targets. Players can also receive tokens which can be exchanged for prizes as they reach required points.

Despite changes in the reward system, 888 has vowed to keep current cashback commitments. This existing system allows players to earn cash back based on the volume of play.

In an official statement, 888 said “We’d like to assure you that despite these major changes, 888poker will fully honour its cashback commitment to all players, including its VIPs, who are currently entitled to yearly cash back in the existing rewards plan.

“Moreover, any reward points players accumulated in the current rewards programme will be automatically transferred to Gold Tokens, with equal value, in the new 888poker Club and will continue to be redeemable any time.

“The cashback available in our current rewards programme will likely not correspond to that offered in the new 888poker Club.”

888Poker officially sponsors the 2016 WSOP

888Poker, the world’s second largest online poker room, revealed on Monday that it will be the official sponsor of the 2016 World Series of Poker set to kick off in May.

The deal, an extension of the one signed in 2015, further highlights how 888Poker has gone from strength-to-strength, allowing their players a route to Vegas via their online satellite program.

The WSOP website will display 888 branding and promotional materials, a live updates page and ESPN coverage of the event.

Last week, the WSOP released what they called ‘the most ambitious and diverse schedule in 47-years’ with 69 bracelet events due to take place.

Many had already anticipated 888’s involvement with the event when a not too cryptic clue was released.  Event #54: $888 Crazy Eights No-Limit Hold’em (8-Handed), with a guaranteed first prize of $888,888.

Professional poker player, Kara Scott, recently became the new ambassador of 888Poker, and has quickly become a mainstay at the WSOP in her role as the anchor for the coverage by ESPN.

As part of the 2015 agreement, 888Poker also sponsored the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) in Berlin.

According to the most recent shuffling of the WSOP deck, 2016 should be the year that they return to the Southern Hemisphere for the second World Series of Poker Asia-Pacific (WSOP-APAC). However, it has been rumored that this won’t happen.

During the press release of the 2016 WSOP schedule, mention was made of the Big One for One Drop event being held in 2016, but not as part of the summer extravaganza in Las Vegas. The most sensible option would be a second successive WSOPE with the $1m buy-in event taking centre stage.
