POKERSTARS Casino has made recent headlines with its new slots game ‘Millionaires Island’, and for all the best reasons.
Since its much-hyped launch in January 2017, the slot game has already lived up to its name for two university students and paid out a staggering joint total of nearly $3m.
One first ever winner was ‘LuisCancelaU’ from Uruguay, who turned his $1 starting bet into over $1.5 million. He had only been playing for just three minutes before seeing the fifth symbol that signaled his big win. He wishes to remain anonymous in order to enjoy his winnings and help his family.
The other newly minted millionaire on the slots game is Finnish restaurant worker and economics student ‘pkr_rager’, who received a massive payout of over $1.4million on just his second visit to Pokerstars Casino. He had been a regular player on the poker site but new to the casino, having been drawn in by the huge possible jackpot. Upon winning, he said, it’s like ‘when you wake up as a kid on Christmas morning. I was happy but at the same time feeling unreal, like I could be in a dream.’
Pokerstars Casino is part of Pokerstars.com, one of the largest brands in the industry. It was launched in 2014 as a result of the company’s drive to improve their online portfolio since poker growth has slowed. Developed in-house, Millionaire’s Island is the casino’s newest addition, and is the only slot game with the brand exclusive Progressive Mega Jackpot of at least $1 million, making it one of the most exciting games currently out there. It is hoped that this will, in turn, establish Pokerstars Casino as one of the most popular eGaming destinations.
In February, Bo Wänghammer took over as the new managing director of the online casino site. He says it has great potential that he hopes to deliver on, suggesting that we may see much more big payouts in the months to come in a move to entice players and endeavor to make Pokerstars Casino become as big as possible.
But the big jackpots on the eGaming site don’t only happen on Millionaire’s Island. Russian ‘Denis N777’ also became a millionaire on Genie Jackpots. He described his emotions as ‘incomprehensible’ and ‘overwhelming’ after his win. And while the jackpot might not be so high, Super Diamond Deluxe saw winner ‘Prinzess666’ receive nearly $300,000, which she will use to ‘make some family dreams come true’ after going through a particularly bad spell.
From 2015-2016, the casino segment of Pokerstars grew 10% and the operator is set to grow even more rapidly since signing an agreement with Microgaming, one of the leading iCasino software providers, for a range of online and mobile casino games with the Quickfire platform, giving the operator access to hundreds of slots and jackpot games. The provider has branded slot offerings including Terminator 2, Jurassic Park, and Game of Thrones. The software is set to be rolled out beginning summer 2017.
