Lead and Holistic launch MS Excel CPD qualifications

No fewer than five Microsoft Excel continuous professional development (CPD) qualifications have been launched thanks to the collaboration between LEAD Training Services and Holistic Institute of Technologies.

Accredited as an MQF Level 5 Award by the National Commission of Further and Higher Education (NCFHE), these five short courses all have clear, distinct learning objectives and aim to improve business efficiency and productivity of people at work.

“It is a known fact that MS Excel is an increasingly powerful and effective business tool, so the MS Excel Short Courses Qualifications are aimed at companies wishing to increase workplace efficiency by making full use of this commonly under-utilised tool,” James Grech, Managing Director of LEAD Training Services, said.

“These CPD qualifications go further than the current programmes developed by the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) Advanced course, which is more focused on students than professionals at work.”

Three of these MS Excel courses consist of four modules, each consisting of two 3.5-hour sessions. These are the Power User, Advanced Time Series Forecaster and Advanced Cross-Section Data Analyst.

The fourth course, titled All-Round Statistical Analyst, consists of five modules, each consisting of two 3.5-hour sessions; and the fifth, titled Holistic Professional, consists of six modules, each consisting of two 3.5-hour sessions.

All five MS Excel courses share the same three basic modules, the first two of which can be exempted for those who have passed the ECDL Excel Advanced examination. The fourth module, Visual Basic for Applications for MS Excel, which goes through coding, is offered with Power User and Holistic Professional programmes.

Module 5, Producing Time-Series Forecasts in MS Excel, is offered with the MS Excel Advanced Time Series Forecaster, All-Round Statistical Analyst and Holistic Professional programmes; and Module 6, Producing Cross-Sectional Data Decomposition using MS Excel, is offered with the MS Excel Advanced Cross-Section Data Analyst, All-Round Statistical Analyst and Holistic Professional programmes.

Once the modules have been completed, trainees will have to complete a final 90-minute exam in order to receive a certificate accredited by the NCFHE, attesting to the skills achieved.

The trainers of these courses, which are being held at the Microsoft Innovation Centre at SkyParks, Luqa, are Bernard Mallia, CEO and Director for Economic Services at Equinox Advisory, and Simon Bonanno, CEO of Holistic IT Group.
