888 Poker Website Launched in the Italian Market

888 Holdings increase its market share in Italy

This week the 888 poker brand was launched by 888 Holdings in the Italian regulated market. Italian players will have access to the 888poker.it website via mobile devices as well as in a desktop version.

Already before the launch, the company had been active in Italy. They have been providing sports wagering and casino websites adapted to the Italian market.

On 3rd January,  888 Poker launched with the entire range of its poker variants. As a highlight, they included two recreational formats. First, Poker Blast, which is a four play porker game, with a duration of eight minutes and a prize pool up to €300,000. The second game is called Snap Poker, which is a fast-fold and high-speed poker game will also be included.

As stated on calvinayre.com, to attract new customers and to support the launch, in addition to an extensive marketing campaign, welcome bonuses will be provided.

Itai Pazner, cheif operating officer of 888 Holdings, stated, “We’re delighted to bring our poker site to the Italian market, which fits with our strategy to expand 888’s presence in regulated markets and strengthens our position for the forthcoming pooling of players across selected European markets. Following the success of our sports betting and casino products in the market, it was a natural step to offer our poker brand to our Italian customers so they can enjoy all three products, seamlessly and in one place.”

Online World Challenge Poker Tournament Results

Whether you are looking for a way to pass the time, keep your mental faculties sharp, or simply practice your game before you head out to the casino, the casino bonuses of 2017 can give you a fantastic incentive to play poker online. With the Online World Challenge wrapping up last week, now is a great time to start practicing at Global Poker so you can get your share of more than SC$1.5 million in 2018.

The Popularity of Online Poker

Online poker is one of the most popular games in the entire world, with countries like Australia, Canada, the United States, and even the United Kingdom participating in challenges every year. Competitions like Global Poker’s Online World Challenge draw new crowds all the time, and there are millions of people who log into various online casinos just to play a few hands of Texas Hold ‘Em and other popular games. Many of these casinos offer welcome bonuses, deposit bonuses, and more designed to help new and existing players alike add to their bankrolls and extend their fun.

About Global Poker

The Online World Poker Challenge is one of many tournaments offered at Global Poker, the first social poker site that offers legal cash outs for American and Canadian players alike. This is thanks to the company’s unique $weepstakes model, which has been approved by Facebook, PayPal, and other high-profile companies around the world. The owner of Global Poker, VGW Holdings Limited, is located in Australia. The same company owns Chumba Casino, as well. While Global Poker currently focuses on the US and Canada, its website says it will be expanding very soon.

Global Poker uses its very own currency, known as $weeps Cash (or SC) to allow for legal cash outs. Each pot in a ring game is considered its own individual sweepstakes. This means that players from the US and Canada have the opportunity to win real money. Global Poker sells a virtual currency known as Gold Coins, and when players purchase the coins, they receive SC as a bonus. It’s this SC that players use to enter tournaments, and should they win the pot, the SC is translated into real-word currency, which can be redeemed via PayPal after players verify their identities.

The Online World Challenge Poker Tournament

The Online World Challenge Poker Tournament is one of many different tournaments held by Global Poker throughout the year. It draws players from the US and Canada, and it provides them with the opportunity to win millions in SC. This year, the prize pool topped out at more than $1.5 million in $weeps Cash doled out among numerous winners. This year’s tournament ran for eight weeks, from June 14, 2017 to July 23, 2017, giving people the opportunity to test their poker skills against others.

During the weekdays, the Online World Challenge Poker tournament offered Global Poker members 18 different daily tournaments. Some of these included the daily $500 freeroll to a daily $4000 guarantee. On the weekends, there were 32 different tournaments, including the guaranteed $7500 Sunday Gold Coin Challenge. This year, more than 188,000 people participated in the OWC.

The Winners of the OWC

The Regular Sunday OWC increased its guarantee to SC$10,000 from SC$7500, and this spurred 50% more entries than before. At the end of this tournament, which consisted of 315 players, went to “GoodTurn2”. This player won the SC$2645 grand prize.

The incredibly popular OWC Monster Freeroll was, by far, the largest tournament in the entire OWC series. The winner, “jfried10”, took home SC$2295.

The first annual OWC was a success, and it’s expected that many more players will join the ranks in 2018. Global Poker is open to anyone and everyone in the United States and Canada, so it’s possible to join them today and start practicing for your shot at winning millions in $weeps Cash.

Getting Started at Global Poker

If you are ready to join Global Poker to learn more about $weeps Cash and Gold Coins, or to just try your hand at one of many various tournaments, you will be glad to know that there’s always something exciting happening. There are several tournaments available in a variety of Texas Hold ‘Em and Omaha poker rooms. The Daily Gold Coin Winners Challenge and the Daily Gold Coin Challenge are worth $250 guaranteed, and the Daily 100 Flops Challenge offers a $250 freeroll opportunity. There’s also the Weekly 500 Flops Challenge, which is a $2000 freeroll, and the Weekend Gold Coin Challenge worth $7500 guaranteed.

To make things simple, you can connect to Global Poker with your Facebook account, then simply choose a screen name and indicate your countries. Upon creating an account, everyone receives SC$2 and 10,000 Gold Coins to get them started. To get more SC, which is the in-game currency required for participating in challenges, you will need to buy Gold Coins. These come in denominations that range in price from $5 USD to $1000 USD, and the more Gold Coins you buy, the more SC you’ll receive as a bonus.

Winning Real Money

When you win a pot at Global Poker, your winnings are given to you in the form of $weeps Cash, which you can exchange for real money and cash out via PayPal. To do it, you will need a PayPal account, and you will also need to verify your identity with Global Poker by providing basic documentation, such as a photo ID. This process takes roughly five days to complete, and you will only need to verify your identity the first time you cash out through the website. After your verification has been processed, it takes another five days to process your withdrawal. It will take roughly five days to process all withdrawals afterward, as well.

When you cash out, the cash value in USD is equal to the SC value. You will need a minimum balance of SC$50 to start the withdrawal process, as well.

Global Poker’s Online World Challenge is a brand new, real-money event open to everyone in the US and Canada, and soon, the entire world. With an opportunity to win a share of more than $1.5 million in prizes, it’s certainly a great way to pass the time, have some fun, and maybe even earn some money at the same time.

All-in Employee Arrested at Vegas Airport

Marketing Designer at All-in Translations Ida Bjerkeskaug (32) was arrested at McCarran International Airport last night accused of promoting online gambling in the Philippines.

Bjerkeskaug, who had been part of the organising committee for a SiGMA sponsored poker tournament at ASEAN Gaming Summit at PokerStars Live Room in Manila, arrived at McCarran Friday evening local time after boarding Philippine Air with a transit in San Francisco.

All-in

Ida Bjerkeskaug did not play the tournament herself, she was only part of the organising committee. The picture is from a commercial video shoot which All-in Translations did together with Calvin Ayre.

But the the Norwegian citizen was stopped at the security control and is now being held at Clark County Detention Center until she will appear in front of a judge next week. She was on her way to Vegas to attend her 2nd job as Creative Director at Upbeat Vegas.

All-in

CEO of All-in Translations Roy Pedersen (left) here together with the winner and the runner-up of the tournament in question.

CEO at All-in Translations Roy Pedersen told SiGMA that he is shocked about the accusations made towards his colleague.

“We offer language services to gambling companies but at no point have we offered actual wagering of money. The tournament we hosted in Manila was a freeroll, meaning it was free to enter although there were prizes worth more than €3K in the pool. But I don’t see how Ida can get arrested for that. Also the tournament was played live, as in not online, in the casino at City of Dreams, so the accusations of her promoting online gambling is both false and outrageous”.

All In

Marketing Designer at All-in Translations Ida Bjerkeskaug was arrested at McCarran Airport in Las Vegas Friday accused of illegally promoting online gambling in the Philippines.

Pedersen has yet to speak to Bjerkeskaug but is hoping he will have more news once she is allowed that one phone call.

“We will have to involve the Norwegian ambassador in Nevada if Ida is not released next week, but we are hoping this terrible misunderstanding will be cleared by then” Pedersen said.

It is unclear why Bjerkeskaug was detained in the US and not in the Philippines, as the accusations do not involve the US in any way. The US have a history of confronting people involved in online gambling, but no state has more liberal laws in that aspect than Nevada.

In the Philippines the laws of online gambling has become increasingly strict with Rodrigo Duterte as president.

“Online gambling must stop… I don’t want the proliferation of gambling in the country,” he said according to Asia Gaming Brief when inaugurated in June last year.

We will be back with more as soon as there are any updates.

PokerStars #raiseit social media campaign a worldwide success

PokerStars social media campaign that was launched last year in a bid to engage recreational players has become a worldwide success reaching views of over 158 million. The campaign has been branded under the hashtag #raiseit featuring Cristiano Ronaldo, Dwyane Wade, Neymar Jr, Ronaldo Nazario and other legendary sports stars and has become an international hit with sports fans.

This media campaign encourages players to challenges their friends, family and work colleagues to #raiseit via a series of social video showdowns that shows off their skills in trick shots and stunts.

The second installation of the series was played out from November 2016 to January 2017 featuring football sensation Ronaldo and NBA star, Chicago Bulls player Wade in a series of competitive and playful videos that were created by PokerStars, by the world’s largest online site. The videos were shared on Ronaldo and Wade’s social media sites which have millions of followers combined, introducing millions of players to the PokerStars brand.

The first campaign featured Team PokerStars SportStar Neymar Jr and Brazilian football legend Ronaldo Nazario in June of last year.

The viral challenge is even more extreme this time around with the battle between Ronaldo and Wade pushing their limits. Seven rounds of everyday tasks were showcased featuring impressive trick shots in the fun duelling campaigns.

Wade stated: “I really enjoyed coming up with unique #raiseit ideas to out-smart Ronaldo.”

“The challenge not only pushes boundaries but gets your imagination going. It gets you thinking, ‘What can I do to get that person fired up? And how can I think ahead and outsmart their response before they even act?’ It’s going to be a lot of fun to see how it plays out.”

Cristiano Ronaldo had this to say: “#raiseit encourages people to show the talents they have whether it’s something they use every day or a secret talent that they can surprise people with. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to become the best at what you do so I really enjoy challenging others to do better as it keeps me on my toes.

“Being paired with Dwyane for #raiseit encouraged me to think about how we could compete with each other creatively and have some fun trying to one-up each other. I like to challenge myself both on and off the pitch and these videos provided the perfect outlet for that .”

The #raiseit mentality is all about the competitive nature of poker and sports having a fun go at the poker mentality of raising the stakes to one-up your opponent. It showcases the perseverance and focus needed to be successful in both.

Vice President of Corporate Communications for PokerStars and Amaya Inc Eric Hollreiser said: “Reaching new audiences is the lifeblood of our business and we are very pleased to have created entertaining and engaging social content that brings the PokerStars brand and the playful competition of poker to such a mass audience,”

“The fun competitive nature of these sports stars embody the spirit of the brand and the accessibility of poker as a social game of wits and strategy.”

Mediarex prepares for the Poker World frenzy in 2017

Sports marketing agency Mediarex Sports and Entertainment, who has dedicated themselves to developing sports formatted Poker competitions will this year be celebrating their 5th year as an entrepreneurial adventure.
During this period they have launched initiatives such as Global Poker League (GPL), Fantasy Poker Manager, the American Poker Awards & Conference, as well as HoldemX and 3v3Poker among others.

They are such avid believers in the poker game and its dazzling future ahead being die hard poker fans at heart that they have also eagerly bolstered established initiative properties including the GPI, The Hendon Mob and the European Poker Awards.

The past five years have also seen them as an innovation lab uplifting the face of the poker world by experimenting with and launching new initiatives “that subvert our audience’s notions of what poker is or has the potential to be.”
Their experiences, as any other lab, has observed both hit and misses which just strengthens them, learning from it all convinced that they are moving in the right direction.
They have also observed in the past few months that although they have been focusing specifically in one direction being to grow the game and industry of poker, it has created an offshoot as they had to operate as 2 separate businesses to accomplish this. In the end, creating two units that offer different types of innovation –  The ‘Industry Ambassadors’ Unit and the Pokertainment™/ Sportify Poker™ Unit.

Mediarex highlights both these units breaking down their individual roles:

The ‘Industry Ambassadors’ Unit main focus is on the promotion and rewards of poker players and helping to organise and assemble the world of poker operators, strengthening the “current conventional poker ecosystem”. This unit includes the GPI, TheHendonMob and their twin Awards and Conference initiatives.
It is safe to say that they have reached their targets with GPI and The Hendon Mob in their corner aiding greatly in reaching out to the poker world being the Poker’s de facto ranking authority and online portal. They boast of more than 7 million visits per year, ranking 500,000 players in 97 countries and working with 1700 organisers. This Ranking & Database Authority is the online GPI poker ranking authority.

Pokertainment™/ Sportify Poker™ Unit is considered the “mad scientist unit” as this is where ideas are born for out of the box fan experience and a direct player to player initiative such as GPL, HoldemX, 3V3Poker, PokerDraft and Fantasy Poker Manager. Their main goal is the creation of “disruptive content, media experiences and gaming products geared towards engaging a new generation of digital consumers and developing exciting platforms capable of making a new poker narrative – one that is more aligned with modern gaming trends, esports & players’ thirst for experiences that may be poker-based but transcend the conventional confines of the game.”

Mediarex considers this unit the tougher unit to operate but at the same time, in their words “gratifying and fun”.

They are eager to embark on the new year and all it holds for the poker world while continuing the separation of their two units which will enable them to accomplish more and be more efficient.

They welcome you to their 3rd American Poker Awards being held next week on Thursday 23rd February 2017 at the Sofitel Beverly Hills, California.
